ABC South East SA
My role involves sourcing, pitching and creating stories for the ABC for radio, digital and television, working closely with the ABC South East SA team to make sure we are leading the conversation in local news and issues important to our audience. I also help with breaking news and contribute to our emergency broadcasting prepardness. My work has appeared on a variety of national, statewide and local programs. In my current role, I have also helped with our local radio programming, filling in as the breakfast radio producer (previous role) when needed.
Over both my roles as reporter and breakfast radio producer I have written and contributed to a number of articles for the ABC's website.
Reporting live from Gerations in Jazz
Generations in Jazz is one of the largest student jazz festivals in the world, attracting hundreds of schools from Australia and New Zealand to Mount Gambier, where they play, compete and watch the best in the industry over the first weekend in May each year. In 2026, I crossed live to ABC News Breakfast from the event as students first arrived, chatting to Johnny Turner, a James Morrison Scholarship finalist (and subsequent winner). I also produced and presented an outside broadcast of the ABC South East SA breakfast show, interviewing more students and organisers under the shade of the largest modular tent in the southern hemisphere,
Looking back at the Blue Blob
Mount Gambier's controversial "Blue Blob" has divided the community for the past 10 months. After Amelia Vanderhorst was ordered to pay $2000 and complete 60 hours of community service for supergluing googly eyes to the sculpture, I spoke with those involved in the design, commissioning and promotion of the project and investigated whether community attitudes have changed.
Heatwave kills flying foxes
Successive heatwaves killed thousands of flying foxes in colonies across South Australia in January 2026, including the majority of a colony in Naracoorte in the Limestone Coast. I spoke to the team of animal rescuers who transported as many sick bats as they could to Adelaide to try and save them.
Rare white kangaroos up for sale
The Tatiara District Council decided to sell some of their rare white kangaroos in an effort to reduce overcrowding at the Bordertown Wildlife Park. I spoke to the council about the history of the roos and why the council decided to sell them.
